A thing to change:
Mexican human rights defenders are calling for international support after a labour rights campaigner was kidnapped and beaten in the city of Puebla, south of Mexico City. José Enrique Morales Montaño of the Workers’ Support Centre (CAT) was abducted on his way to a Conciliation and Arbitration Board meeting where he was due to speak in defence of local garment workers.
CAT reports that this abduction is part of an ongoing campaign of intimidation that has seen labour rights defenders subjected to arbitrary detention, death threats and physical assaults.
You can add your voice to CAT’s campaign to defend human rights by sending a letter to the Governor and Secretary for Labour in the state of Puebla asking them to top to these abuses and bringing those responsible to justice.
